Wood Floor Warranty

When a floor is made better, it should be backed better. That is why Olson Rug give you, the original consumer purchaser, the strongest warrantee in the business.

This warranty covers our entire collection of wood and laminate flooring. It protects you with the most complete coverage you'll find anywhere in the wood flooring industry, effective on all products purchased after December 2, 1996.

Olson Rug warrants our installation of pre-finished wood and laminate floors will remain free of installation defects for a period of one year from the date of the original installation.

Each board is subject to a series of stringent, quality assurance checks before it leaves the factory. As an additional precaution, the customer should inspect the boards again before the floor is installed. Once a board has been determined to be defective, we will immediately arrange for replacement flooring. Olson Rug accepts responsibility for replacing uninstalled boards only.

Every Olson engineered plank is bonded under intense heat and pressure, a process that makes our engineered floors more stable than other wood floors. But, in the unlikely even the bonding should fail, we will provide substitute boards, for the defective boards. We will stand behind the structure of the flooring for a full five years. You are protected from:

  • Separation of bonded parts
  • Buckling due to expansion
  • Unsightly cupping of planks
  • Warping or twisting

Olson warranties that our finish will not wear through for a full five years after the purchase of your floor, providing the Olson wood maintenance guidelines are followed. The polyurethane finish provides an easily renewable no-wax surface. If the finish wears through over an area of 5% of the total wood flooring installation, Olson Rug will re-coat the floor. If the re-coating also wears through, it is assumed the traffic in the household is not normal traffic, and no additional work will be done.

  1. Wood is a natural material that swells when it absorbs water and shrinks when it dries. Wipe up spills as soon as possible to keep your floor unmarked, smooth and level.
  2. Avoid furniture glides and spike heels. Round-headed chair glides and narrow wheels on furniture legs make furniture easy to move, but they can also scratch or permanently dent your floor. Spread the weight. Use commercially made felt protectors or furniture coasters to prevent scratches or dents. Spike heels are also damaging to hardwood floors.
  3. Grit is one of the biggest dangers to your floor. Tracked in dirt and pebbles are like sandpaper on a hardwood floor. Use an entry rug at every entrance to catch the grit. Vacuum or shake out regularly.
  4. Keep your home's humidity between 35-45%. This will help keep the boards from contracting and expanding.
  • The warranty is applicable to single family, residential dwellings only. Any commercial activity renders this warranty invalid.
  • Your floor must have been professionally installed by Olson Rug.
  • Damage due to water saturation such as a leaky faucet, broken pipe or wet mopping is excluded.
  • Use of floor maintenance products not specifically manufactured for use on Olson Floors may damage your floor, and, in addition, will invalidate your warranty. Use only Olson approved cleaner. This cleaner is available through your local Olson Rug showroom.
  • Wood is a natural product, containing natural variations in color, tone, and grain. We cannot warranty against natural variations, nor the normal minor differences between color samples and the color of installed floors.
  • This warranty does not cover damage arising from accidents, abuse, normal wear, spike heels, or UV lights.
  • Olson Rug excludes and will not pay consequential or incidental damages under the warranty.
  • This warranty does not cover any insect infestation after the product has left our warehouse.
  • This warranty does not cover scratches.
  • If the same merchandise is no longer available, then the customer must go into an Olson Rug store and re-select an equivalent product from our regular running line.

Ceramic Tile Warranty

Manufacturing defects for a period of two years from the date of original purchase. Olson Rug warrants our installation of ceramic tile will remain free of installation defects for a period of one year from the date of original installation.

2 Year Limited Warranty
Against Manufacturing Defects & Remedies

First Year

One year from the date of the original purchase, Olson will repair the defective areas or will supply, at no charge, new Olson tile of the same color, design, and grade for the defective areas. If replacement tile is required in accordance with this warranty and the defective tile has been discontinued or is unavailable, Olson reserves the right to select and supply similar Olson tile as a replacement. Where the purchaser has paid for Olson installation of defective materials, Olson will repair or replace the defective tile. Where the purchaser has not paid for Olson installation, Olson will not provide any labor costs.

Second Year

Less than two years from the date of the original purchase, and the defect was not visually detectable prior to installation, then Olson will supply, at no charge, new Olson ceramic tile of the same color, design, and grade. If the original tile is unavailable, a similar Olson ceramic tile will be supplied for those defective tiles. Olson will not pay or provide any labor costs for the replacement of the defective tile, after the first year from the date of purchase.

Limitations

  • Olson excludes and will not pay any consequential or incidental damages under this limited warranty. By this, we mean any loss, expense, or damage other than to the tile itself that may result from the defect in the tile.
  • There are no implied warranties, including warranties of merchantability, and fitness for a particular purpose.
  • Olson excludes dissatisfaction due to improper maintenance or irregularities caused by underlayment.
  • Olson excludes scratches, cracks, or chips caused by misuse, improper installation, improper maintenance and/or other non-manufacturing related cause.
  • Olson excludes claims due to hydrostatic pressure or excessive moisture.
  • Olson excludes dissatisfaction due to dye lot variation from samples or printed illustrations.
  • Olson excludes claims due to usage not in accordance with the PEI recommendation.
  • Olson excludes claims on tile installed on exterior surfaces.

Regarding unsatisfactory, Olson must be notified before installation is begun. The company shall not be liable for any claims made after the start of installation.

Returns

Merchandise back as an accommodation, returns will be charged a minimum restocking charge of 25%, and limited to full and unopened cartons that have not been damaged or mutilated in any way. The customer must return all merchandise to Olson with 7 days of its receipt.

How to make a claim purchase

The normal time period for review or inspection after the claim has been filed is 45 days.
